Why Teach?

Why Teach?

Henry Brook Adams once said, "A teacher affects eternity; He can never tell where his influnce will stop." This is why I teach. I am passionate about learning and I am passionate about the future of our children. It is said that children are the future, I believe that if this is true then we must educate them in a way to ensure that the future is bright! Why teach? There is something about the look in my students eyes when they've finally mastered the complications of multiplication. I love to see the bright smiles that consume their faces when they realize that reading really isn't hard at all! Why teach? I'll be honest I don't do it for the inadequate pay check, or the mediocre benefits that come along with the title. I'll be the first to say that a teacher's job is never done and is hardly ever recognized, There are days when quitting seems to be the brightest option on the table but then a child comes to me with a picture that they've drawn just to show me how much they love me and how much I really mean to them. I teach because I feel that it is what I was born to do! I teach because the long term effects of what goes on between the walls of that classroom are more promising than any 9am to 5pm job could ever be for me. I teach because if 30 years from now I can run into one of my former students at the super market and they are lawyers, doctors, news anchors, policemen, garbage men or even teachers, then my hard work and passion have not gone in vain. I teach becuase every child deserves to know that they can be whatever they want to be and that they can do whatever they want to do while gaining all that they can gain from this life.

Why God Made Teachers
By: Kevin William Huff

When God created teachers,
He gave us special friends
To Help us understand His world
And truly comprehend
The beauty and the wonder
Of everything we see,
And become a better person
With each discovery.

When God created teachers,
He gave us special guides
To show us ways in which to grow
So we can all decide
How to live and how to do
What's right instead of wrong,
To lead us so that we can lead
And learn how to be strong.

Why God created teachers,
In His wisdom and His grace,
Was to help us learn to make our world
A better, wiser place.
